Price Transparency

Speare Memorial Hospital, in partnership with the New Hampshire Hospital Association (NHHA), is committed to promoting greater transparency around healthcare costs, as well as a better understanding of hospital pricing, billing, and insurance coverage to make the best decision for you and your family.

Speare Memorial Hospital has partnered with a third party to assist in coordinating its adoption of 45 CFR Part 180, CMS-1717-F2, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services hospital price transparency rule (the “Rule”) requiring certain healthcare providers to disclose their pricing to patients for a number of standard provider service offerings.

The consumer shoppable tool (the "Tool") provides cost estimates for services listed within the Tool, that are actual prior service charges billed by Speare Memorial Hospital that should provide an estimate for the same for our future patients we serve.

Insurance coverage can vary depending on the carrier, so we recommend patients familiarize themselves with their coverage and ask questions before treatment.

Our Revenue Cycle team is available to answer and assist with any questions you may have in regards to your upcoming procedure, test or admission.  For more information, please contact our dedicated number at 603-238-2178.

Hospital Chargemaster

The information provided in the “Hospital Chargemaster” document is a comprehensive list of charges for each inpatient and outpatient service or item provided by a hospital, which Speare Memorial Hospital posts on an annual basis. Standard charges shown in the Hospital Chargemaster do not necessarily reflect what a patient ultimately pays for services and therefore may not be a helpful tool to estimate their out of pocket responsibility or to compare hospital costs.

The per-unit pharmacy charges as shown in this list are based upon an average formulary charge for each medication.  Actual charges may differ, based on the availability of generic formulations of a medication, the manufacturer of the medication, and the source from which the medication was purchased.

Because the Hospital Chargemaster rates are updated periodically, patients should contact our Patient Financial Counselor at 603-536-1120, extension #222 for information about the cost of care.
