Breast Screening Clinic Offered by Speare Memorial Hospital
Available to women 40 and older who do not have insurance

PLYMOUTH, N.H. --- PLYMOUTH, N.H. --- Speare Memorial Hospital is offering a Breast Screening Clinic to women 40 years and older who do not have insurance and have never had a mammogram, or have not had a mammogram within the last year, on Wednesday, October 25. The clinic includes an education component, clinical exam and a mammogram. The charge for the mammogram is $75 and includes the radiologist fees for reading and interpretation.

"As October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the purpose of the clinic is to educate women about the disease and the importance of breast self-examination, as well as the need to have an annual exam by a trained health care provider" notes Kim MacKay, director of Social Services at Speare Memorial Hospital.

Women interested in the Breast Screening Clinic are asked to pre-register by October 23 and can do so by calling Kim MacKay at 603-238-2216.

"Early detection is the best protection," says Kerry Rockwell, SMH´s nurse director of oncology. "While a diagnosis of breast cancer can be overwhelming, advancements in technology and medicine make it a chronic disease that can be managed and treated."

Speare Memorial Hospital is a 24-hour, acute care, non-profit community hospital and health care provider serving Plymouth, and the communities of central New Hampshire, for more than a century.
