Speare Memorial Hospital Introduces New Logo

PLYMOUTH, N.H. --- Speare Memorial Hospital is adopting a new visual identity and officially unveiled its new logo at an employee picnic earlier today. The forest green and brown typographical logo features a pine tree symbolizing strength, growth, and health, reflecting the hospital’s goal of being a resource for health and wellness across the spectrum of life. |

| “There are few times in the life of an organization when it has the opportunity to reintroduce itself, and with our $15 million capital construction and renovation project nearing completion, this was a good time for Speare Memorial to reposition ourselves in the community,” notes SMH’s President and CEO Michelle McEwen. “With the addition and expansion of hospital services, the hospital is a valued resource in the community and we wanted our logo to represent that strength and vitality, as well as reflect our physical sense of place in central New Hampshire.” |

| The process of developing a new logo began more than a year ago with the review of initial design concepts. After narrowing down the design elements, McEwen approved two logo prototypes that were brought forward to employees and the board of directors last spring for review and comment. Overwhelmingly, the “pine tree logo” was the preferred option. Many liked the simplicity and crispness of the design, while others related the tree being representative of New Hampshire. Color was another important consideration in finalizing the new logo. Just as the graphic elements were intended to represent life and growth, so too should the color palette, hence the choice of earth tones. |

| The hospital’s new visual identity will be phased in over the next few months. Patients and community members will start to see the new logo appear on signage and stationery, within the next few weeks. Advertising and promotional brochures will adopt the new visual identity as programming is developed, while informational materials will incorporate the new look as reorders are needed. |
