SMH Presents Senior Health and Wellness Series
 
PLYMOUTH, N.H. --- Speare Memorial Hospital Rehabilitation Services is offering a free, monthly, interactive lecture series presented by rehabilitation professionals at local senior centers. The goal of the series is to bring education to individuals who may not otherwise have access to this type of programming, and in turn, improve the independence and wellbeing of seniors living in central New Hampshire. Coping with Low Vision
  • The functional limitations associated with a variety of visual impairments.
  • Review of home modifications, environmental modifications and adaptive equipment available (items available for “hands-on” experience) to maximize safety and independence.
  • Vision simulators enabling individuals to trial a variety of vision impairments.

  • Causes, signs and symptoms of inner ear dysfunction and balance deficits.
  • Risk factors for falls and review of home modifications to decrease fall risk.
  • Role of physical therapy in treating balance and inner ear dysfunction.
  • The differences between vestibular and balance disorders.
