SMH to Host Plymouth Chamber Business Before Hours

PLYMOUTH, N.H. --- A business roundtable on Pandemic Flu Planning will be presented at a Plymouth Chamber of Commerce Business and Breakfast Before Hours hosted by Speare Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, February 21 at 7:30 a.m.  The event will be held in the Newfound Room at Prospect Hall on the Plymouth State University campus.

Understanding the threats relative to Pandemic Flu, learning the status of regional planning efforts and what businesses can do to plan for operational continuity in the event of a widespread outbreak, or other natural disaster, will be the focus of discussion.

Says SMH Director of Quality Management Ann Graves, “It is not a question of if a pandemic will occur, but when.  The Plymouth Regional All-Hazards Planning Team has been working with the state over the last year to put a framework in place.  Working with, and educating our various constitute groups, including businesses, about what role they will play in the event of a pandemic and how to prepare, is the next step in the process.”

Graves will open discussion with an explanation of pandemic flu, history and status of the threats, overview of the planning process to-date and steps businesses can take to plan for their operational continuity.  She will be followed by Clint Hutchins, member solutions manager at New Hampshire Electric Co-op, Inc., who is the facilitator of the Co-op’s business continuity team.  He will give an overview of the planning process the Co-op has been through over the last three years to prepare for “keeping the lights on” during a widespread emergency or natural disaster.

Temporary PSU parking permits are required for attendees of the event, and can be obtained by contacting Michele Hutchins at Speare Memorial Hospital to R.S.V.P.  She can be reached at 603-238-6468 or via email:  mhutchins@spearehospital.com.
