Patients Guide

Visitors

Based on principles of patient/family centered care, the following visitation guidelines have been established to ensure the best possible care for patients during their stay:
  • Visitors are asked to check in at the Nurses' Station before visiting to allow for teaching that may be needed (e.g. infection control precautions, dietary restrictions, cell phone use etc.) as well as to avoid interruption of patient care.
  • The number of visitors is dependent on the needs and comfort of the patient, however the impact of the patient's visitors on the overall environment of care will be considered. Hospital staff may limit the number of visitors as necessary.
  • All patients have the right to receive the visitors whom he or she designates, including but not limited to, a spouse, a domestic partner (including a same sex domestic partner), another family member, or a friend, as well as the right to withdraw consent at any time.
  • Visitors with colds or flu-like symptoms (fever, cough, sore throat), or any other contagious disease should not visit hospitalized patients. If visiting is deemed absolutely necessary, visitors must strictly adhere to proper hand washing and masking protocols.
  • Children under the age of 12 are permitted to visit for short periods of time and must be supervised by an adult (other than the patient) at all times. In the Birthing Suite, only visitation by siblings of the newborn are permitted.
  • Should the need arise, in consideration of the privacy of all our patients, visitors will be directed to the appropriate waiting room.
General visiting hours are from 10am to 8pm. If these hours do not meet the needs of the patient/family the Nursing staff will discuss alternate arrangements.

Ample parking for out-patients and visitors is available in the east parking providing access to the main entrance on Hospital Road.
