Overview of Department

The Oncology Clinic is an outpatient area that provides comprehensive medical care to people with cancer and blood disorders. We also do a variety of infusions and injections for non cancer related conditions. Our goal is to give patients the confidence they need to manage their disease and treatment options through personal attention and compassionate care, so that they can enjoy quality of life.

Department Services

The Oncology Clinic provides the following:

  1. Individualized case management and care
  2. Oncology certified nurses
  3. Chemotherapy (cancer treatment)
  4. Anemia treatments
  5. Blood transfusions
  6. Phlebotomy
  7. Infusions for the treatment of :
    • Arthritis
    • Crohns Disease
    • Enzyme replacement therapy
    • Multiple Sclerosis
    • Osteoporosis

Special Programs

Our clinic offers referrals to several programs in the area that offer financial assistance to those with a diagnosis of cancer.

Resource Information

The Oncology Clinic has books, pamphlets, videos and many other educational materials available. These materials cover all different types of cancers and treatments. Nurses are also available for questions and educational programs.

Q: What is Oncology?
A:
Oncology is the care of people with cancer.

A:
It is the care of people with blood disorders.

Q: Can I get my care at Speare?
A:
We are able to provide most chemotherapy treatments in our outpatient clinic. Patients are seen in our clinic by our oncologist (cancer doctor), who is from Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DMHC). Office visits by DHMC oncologists are also available here. Patients are encouraged to have a local primary care physician on staff at Speare.

Q: Do you have radiation therapy at Speare?
A:
Radiation therapy is offered at specialized radiation centers, the closest being Concord Hospital or Dartmouth Medical Center.

The Oncology Clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Our direct phone number is 238-6470, fax 238-6416. Physician referrals are necessary for an appointment.
