Description: Assess and identify patient problems/needs,establish a plan of care, implement interventions, and evaluate and revise the patient plan of care based on patient progress. Current NH state RN licensure or eligibility. ACLS required. Minimum one year previous nursing experience necessary. TNCC/ENPC and/or CEN preferred.


Position:  Patient Services Representative
Department:  Central Services

Description:  Serves as the initial contact for patients requiring registration and information.  Utilizes Next Gen, Meditech, and other system applications to enter, verify and edit demographic and billing information.  Manages delinquent patient accounts, setting up and monitoring budget payment plans, and processing unpaid accounts and assigning uncollectable accounts to collection agency.  High school graduate required.  Minimum 1 year experience in a medical environment preferred.  Prior experience with physician practice billing preferred.  Strong customer service orientation preferred.


Position:  Technical Support Specialist

Description:  The Technical Support Specialist is responsible for frontline end-user technical support for Speare Memorial Hospital, including hardware, software, network and telecommunication issues.  This includes end-user account setup and maintenance, hardware setup and modifications, desktop application installation and configuration, problem resolution, routine maintenance, configuration management and issue tracking, escalation and documentation.  High School Diploma required.  Technical Institute certificate in Information Technology or Computer Science preferred.  MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) and A+ certification preferred.  1 year experience working within a help desk setting required; 2-4 years experience working within help desk setting or hospital information systems department preferred.


Position:  Switchboard Operator/Receptionist
Department:  Patient Access

Description:  Operates the telephone switchboard in order to properly relay calls.  Performs miscellaneous hospital communications.  Receives visitors and/or patients, ascertains their needs and directs people to the correct locations accordingly.  Receives, verifies, reconciles cash payment, and miscellaneous payments at the beginning and end of every shift upon request.  High School Graduate or equivalent required.  Strong customer service experience required.  Prior switchboard experience in a healthcare setting preferred.


Position:  Medical Assistant
Department:  Patient Central Services

Description:  Fills vacancies at other Speare physician offices to staff daily or short-term needs.  Provides support to physician practices as related to Medical Assistant functions.  Assist Patient Services staff with Electronic Medical Record chart migration and maintenance.  High School Diploma or equivalent required.  Medical terminology and other medical education required.  Certified Medical Assistant preferred.  2 years experience hospital or medical office required; 3+ years experience preferred.  Current Certification in Medical Assisting from American Association of Medical Assisting or HUC certification preferred.


Position:  Environmental Services Technician

Status:  40 hours/week; Monday through Friday days with every other weekend and holiday

Description:  Performs Hospital housekeeping/custodial duties by maintaining assigned area of the Hospital in a safe, clean, sanitary and orderly condition.  High School graduate or equivalent required.  1-3 years experience in Environmental Services preferred.  Valid driver’s license required, if assigned to offsite cleaning.


Position:  Clinical Leader

Description:  Under the direction of the Nursing Director, the Clinical Leader is responsible for assisting with the operational leadership and management of the unit. He/she is responsible for team and individual development, utilization of human, technical and material resources and quality improvement activities at the unit and organization level. The clinical leader assists the director in fiscal responsibilities.  The Clinical Leader is responsible for supporting and assisting in the delivery of quality patient care and professional nursing practice.  Associates Degree required.  Bachelor of Nursing or higher preferred.  Three (3) years RN experience in acute care related to the department required.  Previous supervisor or management experience preferred.  Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of New Hampshire required.  Current BLS certification (adult, child, and infant) required.  ACLS is required within 1 year of hire.  Certification in nursing specialty related to the department preferred.


Position:  Nurse Director

Description:  Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, the Directors of Nursing Departments have 24/7 accountability for the quality of care provided to the patients within their department.  Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.  Minimum of 5 years clinical experience within the specialty with demonstration of progressive leadership skills required.  Previous director or manager experience preferred.  Must be a licensed Registered Nurse in the State of New Hampshire.  Must have current BLS certification (adult, child, and infant).  ACLS certification required.  Active member in professional organization required.  Certification in specialty and/or administration preferred.

Position:  Surgical Technician

Description:  The Surgical Technician assists the Surgical Team in organizing, implementing and evaluating the activities that occur in the surgical environment by performing assigned technical duties.  High School Graduate required.  Successful completion of Surgical Tech program preferred.  Clinical experience in a health care setting required; previous experience as a surgical technician preferred.  Certification as a Surgical Technician preferred; required within one (1) year of hire.


Position:  Patient Financial Counselor
Department:  Patient Financial Services

Description:  Coordinates activities of a fully integrated credit and collection process to ensure the maximum collection of outstanding self-pay patient balances.  Works in collaboration with Patient Access, Operating Room, physicians’ office staff, and SMH Business Office staff to secure timely and accurate collection of self-pay receivables while working within the established guidelines of the Charity Care/Community Care Policy.  Must be able to work with, and keep confidential, the highly confidential and sensitive patient care and patient financial information.  The PFC must comply with all HIPAA policies, Patient Rights, Speare’s policies, and all State and Federal Guidelines.  High School Graduate or GED required.  Two years post-secondary education in accounting or business administration preferred.  Prior healthcare office/hospital setting required.  Two years or more in healthcare collections or office setting with emphasis on Financial Counseling preferred.

Position:  EHR Quality Analyst
Department:  Physician Practices

Description:  The EHR Quality Analyst is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of SMH’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) program.  Goals of the EHR program include successful attestation to Meaningful Use measures, compliance with the Physician Quality Reporting Systems (PQRS) program, Value Based Modifier and other internal and external quality programs.  The EHR Quality Analyst is a subject-matter expert who actively participates in the implementation of quality programs.  The position requires a comprehensive understanding of HITECH rules and regulations, physician office workflow and healthcare information technology.  Under the direction of the Director, the Analyst will work with the Information Technology department and the Physician Practices to ensure program compliance.  Bachelor’s Degree in nursing, finance, information systems, healthcare informatics, healthcare administration or other clinical area required.  3 to 6 years clinical, financial, and/or information technology experience specific to a healthcare setting required.  Experience working with or implementing electronic health records and managing Meaningful Use and/or PQRS projects preferred.


Position:  Medical Assistant
Department:  Speare Primary Care

Description:  The primary responsibility of the Medical Assistant is to assist the physician with direct patient care and administrative tasks that provide a steady daily workflow for the physician and office.  This position requires the Medical Assistant to follow directions as well as to exercise independent judgment that contributes to a quality, caring and efficient work environment.  High School graduate with extended education in medical assisting required.  Minimum 5 years experience in a medical office preferred.  Current Certified or Registered Medical or Nurse Assistant designation from the State of New Hampshire preferred.


Position:  Licensed Nursing Assistant

Description:  The Licensed Nursing Assistant provides direct and indirect patient care under the immediate direction of the Registered Nurse (RN).  High school diploma or equivalent required.  Completion of a Licensed Nursing Assistant Program required.  Experience in a health care setting required.  Current LNA licensure in the State of New Hampshire and BLS certification (adult, child, and infant) required.

Description:  Receives visitors and/or patients, ascertains their needs, and gathers accurate demographic and billing information.  Prepares patients for proper admission to the hospital by obtaining written consents for treatment and providing necessary information about the hospital.  High school graduate required.  Knowledge of keyboarding and bookkeeping required.  Minimum one year clerical experience preferred.  Prior experience in Patient Registration preferred.  Strong customer service orientation strongly preferred.
